After the incident at Oxford High School in Michigan left everyone in shock, the Archbishop of Detroit has offered his prayers for the victims in what is being considered the deadliest U.S. school shooting since 2018.

"I am heartbroken to hear of the horrific tragedy at Oxford High School. On behalf of the clergy, religious and faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit, I offer heartfelt prayers for the victims, their families and all those affected in our community. May Our Blessed Mother wrap all those wounded – physically, emotionally or spiritually – in her loving mantle and offer them consolation in the difficult days ahead," Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron said in a Facebook post.

Just before 1 p.m. on Nov. 30, a student at Oxford High School outside of Detroit carried out a mass shooting. The police say they received the first 911 call around 12:51 p.m., and in response, FBI agents, paramedics and over 100 police officers arrived at the scene. Officers were able to take the gun from the shooter without firing shots at him. The weapon was still loaded with seven rounds.

A 15-year-old named Ethan Crumbley is suspected of carrying out the attack. He will be charged as an adult with one count of terrorism, four counts of first-degree murder, seven counts of assault with intent to murder and 11 counts of possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Crumbley killed four students and injured seven additional people, including one teacher. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated she has evidence that the shooting was premeditated and that she is considering charging his parents as well. Crumbley's father had purchased the weapon he used in the shooting four days before it occurred.

The four students who were killed were Madisyn Baldwin, age 17; Tate Myre, age 16; Hana St. Juliana, age 14; and Justin Schilling, age 17, who died the following morning. Injured students include a 14-year-old girl who is on a ventilator and a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the head.
