Kieran Venugopal of Gesu Church in Detroit recently reflected on God's love toward us.
“I know I have had some anxiety; but as Paul says, we should have trust in God’s love,” Venugopal said in the Oct. 4 issue of the church bulletin. “This was something we talked a lot about during my Confirmation prep classes. We talked about the different ways God shows us his love, including how He forgives us and allows us to fix our mistakes. I have been reminding myself to pay attention to His love during this time and to keep asking myself, 'How can I return this Love?'”
Venugopal referred to the weekly Scripture readings.
“Vineyards appear in both the Isaiah reading and the gospel this weekend,” he said. “The Isaiah reading described a man who lovingly built and took care of his vineyard but found that it didn’t grow the way he wanted, and instead grew wildly. I believe the vine grower symbolizes God. God created us and the world we live in with love, but we have to make sure that we are doing God's will.”
