St. Fabian Catholic Church in Farmington Hills shared some recent insights from Monsignor Tim Hogan about God's pure love.
Upon praying over Psalm 139, Msgr. Tim Hogan noted that he was reminded of some important thoughts.
“The whole of creation is not the result of some accidental combining of molecules and atoms but a gift of God and a revelation of the power and love of God,” Hogan said in the church's Oct. 11 bulletin. “Each person is a unique and profound act of the mind and heart of God. Pope Benedict XVI stated, ‘Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.’”
Additionally, the human person is created in God’s image and we have the ability to love as God loves. Finally, God always calls us to himself and wishes that all will be saved through the merits of Christ Jesus.
It can, however, be challenging to see those beautiful witnesses of God’s love in a world that is so fraught with chaos and dissension.
“As members of the body of Christ we continue forward in this world, revealing Jesus through our words and works of righteousness," Hogan said in the bulletin. "It may be difficult and there is persecution of the Church even today. But we move forward because it's not about us; it’s about our mission.”
In fact, as followers of our Lord, we are firmly told that we will have challenges in this life, but in the end we must be able to rest in the assurance that Christ has overcome the world and its difficulties.
Msgr. Hogan concluded by quoting St. Theresa, perhaps more commonly known in the world as Mother Theresa: “If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway."
