St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Parish in Livonia shared a message about faith and corresponding actions in their Sept. 27 bulletin. 

“It’s how we live and act, how we serve and how we love; not what we say," Fr. Tom Wilisowski said in the bulletin. "Our actions give expression to our belief and our trust in the God who saves. You not only have to talk the talk, you must also walk the walk.”

We must follow in the footsteps of Christ— no matter how imperfectly— who was fully obedient to the Father and even submitted himself to death as a human in order to love all of humanity. This is the heart of what God wants from us: not empty words, but sacrificial actions. 

“God wants not only your faith, but a faith that engenders good works, kindness and care, commitment and love,” Wilisowski said. “A faith that is grounded in love. The living voice of Jesus speaks to us today.”

Fr. Wilisowski thanked the parishioners for being so hospitable and generous to the visiting Bishop Bob Fisher as well as candidates and their families. 

“It was a short notice for us as a parish to host them, but we did it, and we did it great," Wilisowski said. "I’d like to thank all of you for your hospitality and very generous, open hearts that you showed to these people. It’s been a blessing for me to be a part of this wonderful faith family." 

He also shared that on Sept. 26 the church welcomed six new children who received Jesus in the form of the Eucharist for the first time. 

“I humbly ask you to pray for these children and their families," Fr. Wilisowski said. "May Jesus become the foundation of their lives. May they always follow Him, love Him, know Him and serve Him more and more every day."

He ended reminding parishioners to celebrate the feast of the Archangels, who provide protection from spiritual dangers continuously.
