Anti-semitism has "no place in the heart of a Christian," proclaimed Flint's St. Pius X Parish pastor, the Rev. Anthony Strouse.
"Jesus Himself was a Jew, and so we should have respect for those who Pope St. John Paul II called 'our elder brothers in the faith of Abraham,'" Strouse said in his weekly Don Antonio's Dispatch column for the Sept. 13 parish bulletin.
His message of acceptance came as those in the Jewish faith were preparing to celebrate Rosh haShanah, or the "new year."
Strouse also thanked parishioners who gave to the 2020 Pontifical Good Friday Collection. It was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The money goes toward helping Christians in Israel and Palestine who rely on tourism to make a living, but because of the global health crisis the industry is currently non-existent.
"I realize times are tough for many of us, but I appreciate whatever you can give," Strouse said in the bulletin.
