St. Regis Catholic Parish in Bloomfield Township shared a reflection from Deacon Francis King in its June 28 bulletin.
In his piece, King reflects on how Christ offers his followers an invitation to a life filled with His grace and love.
“During Mass we consume the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus at Holy Communion,” King wrote. “Jesus says He is the Life. Since God is Love, the new Life of Christ that we are called to live is the life of goodness and love in the eyes of God.”

While many individuals may be living a life of abundant goodness in terms of necessities and even luxuries, Jesus reminds us that to be overly satisfied with what the world has to offer is to forget about the importance of our souls.
“Even if we find our life as co-creators with God, we may lose it if we do not submit our will, mind and heart to God,” King wrote. “God invites us to adventures of goodness and love when we least expect them.”
If anything in this life seems more adventurous than Christ and we choose to seek it, we will not be worthy of being called a follower of Christ, King cautioned.
“Our life is worthy when we let the truth of God’s goodness, which is beyond all measure, govern our thoughts; when we look for the good, especially in the midst of evil,” he wrote.
In a world that is filled with uncertainty and fear, it is our job as followers of the Lord to help others around us see the light of God.
“Our life is worthy when we let the Love of God rule our heart, when we show compassion and mercy in our service to others, giving of self no matter the cost, loving as Christ has loved us,” King wrote.
He concluded by submitting ourselves to what God has willed for us, we accept God’s invitation to work through us in this world.
