The Diocese of Grand Rapids will hold an information session on Saturday for young adults who are interested in attending the World Youth Day Pilgrimage to Portugal scheduled for July 29, 2023 - Aug. 7, 2023.

“Young adults (age 18+), interested in joining the Diocese of Grand Rapids World Youth Day Pilgrimage to Lisbon, Portugal, next summer? Learn more and ask questions during our info session on Aug. 27,” the diocese posted on Facebook

The information session will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Andrew. In addition to attending the pilgrimage in Lisbon, the diocesan-led group will be traveling to Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra and Fátima, it said.

A typical World Youth Day schedule includes an opening ceremony, catechesis, youth festival, papal welcome, pilgrim walk, prayer vigil, and a closing Mass, the World Youth Day’s website said

World Youth Day is celebrated in various countries. The most recent pilgrimage took place in 2019 in Panama City, Panama. The experience is open to all young people who want to gather with other young Catholics to celebrate the universality of the Church and deepen their faith.
