The Diocese of Lansing is offering a young adult retreat for Lent April 8-10, it said on Facebook.
"If you are looking for a good retreat during Lent that is spiritual as well as practical, this Discernment of Everyday Living Retreat (April 8-10) will be a blessing you!"
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which this year fell on March 2, the website Womansday.com said.
According to IgnatianSpirituality.com, Saint Ignatius's 14 rules "are intended to be used by an experienced spiritual director who is helping people understand the nature and meaning of the emotions they are experiencing in prayer. They are especially intended for people embarking on a serious spiritual life. They assist people in identifying the spiritual forces involved in these emotions: the Good Spirit (God, the Holy Spirit) and what Ignatius called 'the enemy of our human nature' (the world, the flesh, the devil)."
The retreat will be held at DeSales Retreat Center in Brooklyn, Mich. It is owned by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and sits on 214 acres of quiet woodland.
"If you haven’t experienced the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola’s 14 Rules of Discernment of Spirits for skills of everyday living and discerning the voice of God in your life, you are in for a real life change and quite a treat!" the Diocese said. "This retreat will help you become more aware and sensitive to the spiritual movements of the heart, help you understand them, and learn how to act from that knowledge. Knowing the 14 rules have changed people’s lives…including the lives of your presenters over this weekend, who will share various life stories of this as well as stories of other people’s lives."
