The Archdiocese of Detroit prayed a Rosary for Life on Jan. 21 at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
“As we celebrate life this week, join us in praying the Rosary,” the church posted on Facebook prior to the service. “Said from the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, intentions will be for an end to abortion, restoration of families, and healing for all wounded by abortion.”
Statista reports that since the Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v. Wade in 1973, there had been nearly 42 million abortions performed in America.
“The two main types of abortion include medical abortion, which uses medication to terminate a pregnancy, and surgical abortion, which includes a procedure such as suction or dilation and evacuation,” Statista states.
Michigan women can obtain an abortion at any point of their pregnancy, including the third trimester, according to CARE.
According to its website, CARE was established in 1992 with an objective to help “provide late term abortions in Michigan for those who don’t have access, contraception and routine medical care to women and men in a compassionate, comfortable and personal environment.”
This month also marks the March for Life, which began in January 1974 by Nellie Gray, who believed that the march should take place annually until the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade was overturned.
The event annually brings out thousands of participants, including high school and college students, according to Heavy.
Chief Justice John Roberts has stated that America is among seven countries that allows abortion after 20 weeks into pregnancy, along with North Korea, China, Vietnam, Canada, Singapore and the Netherlands, according to the National Review.
