The Archdiocese of Detroit's Office of Priestly Vocations will lead a rosary on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. as a part of National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW).
The event, which runs from Nov. 7 through 13 is a designated week to pray for those who are considering a vocation to the priesthood, diaconate, or other consecrated life, according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
“Join us on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The rosary will be led live from the Cathedral by Fr. Craig Giera, Director of @MenOfTheHearts for the @archofdet. The Luminous Mysteries will be prayed with a special intention for an increase in vocations. #NationalVocationAwarenessWeek," the Detroit Archdiocese posted in a tweet on Monday.
The website of the Men of the Hearts, the Office of Priestly Vocations for the Archdiocese of Detroit, has provided stories and updates regarding vocations in the Church as well as information about current seminarians, and resources for men considering a vocation to the priesthood.
“As we celebrate National Vocation Awareness Week, let us renew our prayers for all those discerning calls to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life. May they be inspired by Jesus Christ, supported by our faith community, and respond generously to God’s gift of vocation," said Archbishop Allen Vigneron in a tweet on Sunday.
Founded in 1976, NVAW began when the U.S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for vocation awareness, then moved the celebration to coincide with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord in January, before finally setting on every November in 2014, according to USCCB.
