Everyone at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish community is encouraged to join the few others who have been committed to helping the underprivileged.
Some generously provide shelter, food, offer prayers, and other good deeds showing support and selfless love.
“However, we are a parish of around 3,000 registered families,” the reflection, published in the church's Nov. 22 bulletin, stated. “Nearly 10,000 individual members. Why are we leaving the feeding of the hungry to a dozen committed people? Why, when entering the ‘Adoration Chapel’ in the Activity Center, are there only one or two people praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament on any given Friday?”
Located at 600 North Adelaide Street Fenton, Michigan 48430, the Church has recently resumed in-person masses and also looks forward to seeing more people visiting the church. A drive-in mass during any of the weekend Masses is also an option.
“Jesus does not say only a select few are called to care for the hungry, thirsty, sick, imprisoned or the strangers among us. Whatever we do—or don’t do—we do (or don’t) to the Lord. I plan on ‘stepping it up a bit’, and I hope others will join me,” the reflection further stated.
