Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Waterford shared a note from the pastor on the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Rev. Scott Thibodeau wrote that the month of November is a powerful time to remember those who have passed on before us in the faith of the Lord, according to the church bulletin.
“With this in mind, the “Books of Remembrance” will remain in our church for the month. The book in front of the Ambo, or pulpit in the sanctuary, has the names of our deceased brothers and sisters of our parish over the last year,” Rev. Thibodeau wrote.
Anyone who wanted to pray for those who have passed away is able to go and read over the book in front of the Good Shepherd statue.
On November 9, the church held a usual morning Mass in the morning, followed by a Mass of remembrance in the evening at 7 p.m.
It is also important to join in prayer with the living, grieving, and hopeful who remember the deceased most clearly. I pray in this manner so that when I am gone others might pray for my soul,” Rev. Thibodeau wrote.
This week is that of National Vocations Awareness Week and it is a time during which we pray for those who are discerning what the Lord is calling them to do with their lives.
“The Lord is calling enough people to ordained services but worldly allurements are difficult to ignore as we all know. Our encouragement of young people to follow a priestly or religious vocation is vital to our growth as a family of God,” Rev. Thibodeau wrote.
That being said, let us remember to encourage young individuals who are discerning God’s call in their life to give real thought to the possibility that the Lord might be calling them to a life of devotion to him in a special way.
