St. Regis Catholic Parish - Bloomfield Hills issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
Please join us this year in supporting the Ladies of Charity at St. Hugo and the Franciscan Pantry at the Church of Transfiguration through our annual Thanksgiving Food Collection. The need for food has increased but donations have decreased during this pandemic period. St. Regis has been a partner with these two food pantries for many years.
The Ladies of Charity works under St. Vincent de Paul’s outreach program. They have a building on the property of St. Hugo’s Church in Bloomfield Hills. They continued their operation throughout the pandemic period. Because of the lack of donations, they have been forced to purchase food lately.
The Franciscan food pantry is part of the outreach program of the Church of the Transfiguration. When our parishioners are in need of food, we send them to this Pantry. They provide 40-pound bag of food to those in need, and the need currently is critical.
Both are non-profit organizations that strives to provide sustenance at no cost to people in the Detroit community who are in need of assistance.
Items most needed for the food drive are:
• Canned meats (tuna, chicken, stew, chili and salmon)
• Beans and can vegetables
• Pasta and cereal
• Peanut butter and jelly
• Package of 24 or 36 bottles of water
• All other non-perishable food items
In lieu of frozen turkeys - kindly consider making a monetary donation to either Ladies of Charity or Church of the Transfiguration and drop it off or mail it to the parish office.
Collection boxes will be located in the parish garage, church gathering space. Please deliver all bottles of water to the parish garage.
