Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar shared a message from Rev. Libby.
Just as Mary’s Assumption on August 15th is a reminder that we will return to our bodies, also All Saint’s day reminds us that we are created to be saints, according to the church bulletin.
“The person who is the most despairing of this ever happening has just as much chance of going to heaven as everyone else because it ultimately is a matter of God’s grace with which we choose to cooperate or not,” Rev. Libby wrote.
When we say “yes” to God, there is rejoicing in heaven. There are many ways that we can be reminded and inspired of those who have gone before us and answered the call of God in their lives.
This is the same posture we must take on when we go to the polls to vote as well. While we are not able to be single issue voters, there are issues that are more heavily weighted than others. Abortion is one such example.
“Putting this issue first then makes everything else clear; upholding marriage as between one man and one woman, the fundamental building block of any society. Freedom of religion that we might offer pleasing sacrifice on the altar of the Lord, and follow His ways, not ours, that are clearly outlined in the catechism,” Rev. Libby wrote in the bulletin.
Let us value these things that are so important in our lives enough to support them when they come under fire from society.
For those of us who are concerned for the souls of those who have passed on, we can participate and cooperate with God by offering plenary indulgences.
By visiting the cemetery, going to daily Mass, praying and detaching ourselves from venial sins, we can offer our prayers to God that those we love may come into his full light.
