Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church in Alma shared a note from a deacon on the Sunday of the Solemnity of All Saints.
“This weekend we will remember in a special way all of those that have passed away in our parish this past year,” Deacon Rick wrote in the church bulletin. “We will remember their name and we will light a candle for them. We will also light this candle at all the masses in November.”
Sadly, the pandemic which has rocked the world will not make it possible to have the Mass of Remembrance, but there will be memorial cards that can be picked up and filled out. After filling the cards out, please return them to the basket near the Paschal Candle.
As Thanksgiving approaches, there are many individuals donating to the Thanksgiving Food baskets. You can place money donations in an envelope denoting ‘Thanksgiving Food Baskets’ or purchase food items and deliver them to the church. The provision of food at this special time of year will be a blessing to those who are in need.
“In the last couple of bulletin columns I have talked about Christ’s Mission Appeal which we kicked off last weekend. In the column last weekend I also hinted at the challenge program to make this appeal a bit more fun,” Deacon Rick wrote in the bulletin.
This year, it will be like a raffle and everyone can have their name placed in the drawing if they pledge to the appeal.
There will be five winners, but everyone who gives to this worthy cause is appreciated.
“If you have already pledged to the Christ’s Mission Appeal — THANK YOU. If you have not yet pledged to Christ’s Mission Appeal then I ask you to prayerfully consider supporting the appeal,” Deacon Rick wrote.
Checks to the appeal should be made out to the Diocese of Saginaw.
