St. Fabian Parish in Farmington Hills shared a reflection on the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

“This week, Jesus continues his challenges to us by proclaiming to us the two great commandments; ‘You shall love the Lord, your God, with ally our heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind,’ He then gives the second great commandment; ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’” Monsignor Tim wrote in the bulletin.

These commandments are what what our lives of faith hinge upon as it is through these commands that we become the icon of Christ in the world.

Rather than referencing the 10 commandments that Moses gave to the people, Jesus reminds us that if we focus our actions on these two commandments that all of the others will flow naturally from it.

“May the Holy Spirit inspire us to live out the commandments of God,” Monsignor Tim wrote. “We move from love of God to love of neighbor and back to the love of God.”
