As Fr. Mark Peacock prepared for his 17-hour drive to Denver to visit family, he asked that those with the means help the Parish of the Holy Spirit in Grand Rapids by increasing their financial giving.

“It is my hope that over the course of this year we will be able to raise our revenue by 5%,” he said in the Oct. 4  church bulletin. “When was the last time we gave God a raise from our blessings?”

Peacock planned for lots of prayer on his long drive to visit his daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren.

He expressed gratitude to those parishioners who offered support that helped sustain the mission of the parish and its school.

“While I know for some families it is a financially challenging time, I invite those who may have the means to increase your offertory giving by 5%,” Peacock said. Pledges from 554 families totaled $165,192; which is 86% of the parish goal of $192,142.

He also asked parishioners to pray for vocations to religious life, priesthood and lay ministry.
