Aquinas College has announced a detailed plan for students, faculty and staff to safely return to campus this fall in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Saints Together: A Plan for Fall 2020 was created by the AQ Opens Task Force and other community members with consideration of information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the Kent County Health Department, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s MI Safe Start Plan, the American College Health Association and Michigan Independent Colleges and Universities.
As a community of caring, Aquinas College promotes the value of shared responsibility, encouraging each member of the community to do his part to maintain the best chance that everyone can stay together on campus this fall.
Faculty, staff and students will be asked to sign the Saints Together Pledge, committing to following the safety guidelines set forth by the college, taking personal responsibility for individual health and helping to keep the Aquinas community safe from the spread of the coronavirus and other diseases.
The school acknowledges that things will be different this year, but it is committed to delivering a high-quality education that is in line with the Catholic and Dominican tradition.
Classes will be offered in three modes: in-person, a hybrid model that alternates in-person instruction with synchronous online instruction, or strictly remote instruction. In-class instruction began August 19 and will run through November 21.
The latest information will be shared via the Saints Together Web page and on university social media channels.
