Old St. Mary’s Church in Detroit shared a note with its parishioners in a recent bulletin, thanking the congregation for all of the support that was sent in the final days of the Rev. Wayne Epperley’s life.
Prayers, gifts, foods and words of encouragement made his final days on his earthly pilgrimage a sweet time, as the priest was always confident in the prayers and help that he received from those in the church.
“Whether you were able to come to his funeral Mass or his Vigil liturgy and Rosary or prayed from your home, sent flowers or condolence cards... whatever your kindness was, please know how much your support has meant to all of us,” the parish staff said in the note.
While it is a sad time in the church, the parishioners are asked to continue praying as they grow accustomed to life without Fr. Epperley.
The parish staff also thanked the parishioners for their commitment to the church.
