The Church of the Transfiguration's Christian Service Commission is in need of donations and volunteers for its July 19 curbside pickup lunch, according to the Detroit parish's July 5 weekly bulletin.

The lunch will be served at the Crossroads Soup Kitchen at the corner of W. Grand Boulevard and Fifteenth Street in Detroit, and organizers expect about 500 people to show up for a meal. The commission needs supplies to fulfill the menu, which will include chili, sandwiches, fruit, dessert and a drink.

Monetary donations can be dropped in the collection box at church or mailed to the parish office at 25225 Code Rd., Southfield, MI 48033. Organizers ask that you put "Crossroads" on the envelope that includes the donation.

Volunteers are also needed to prepare the food, help hand out the meals and clean up after the lunch is over. If you'd like to help out, you can call Mike Dillon at 248-569-4304 or send him an email at mjdillon@comcast.net.
