Detroit's Corpus Christi Catholic Church reopened for Mass back on May 23.
Sixty people attended the first services, according to Director of Operations Carolyn Wilson, who also said the church has spent $4,000 to make the facility as safe as possible. The church was deep-cleaned before reopening, and thermometers and hand-sanitizing stations were purchased.
Wilson said that Corpus Christi will continue to use online reservations for Mass attendance. The church is limited to 75 parishioners at each ceremony.
Those who are unable to use the online reservation system are welcome to call the parish office at 313-537-5770 and ask for Miriam Hudson, who is managing the reservation process. The church has called on members to serve in new ministry roles to help manage seating at Mass.
Parishioners are helping check in visitors and escorting them to their safely distanced seats.
Corpus Christi has a new online giving portal that the parish encourages visitors to use. Wilson said 100 people have signed up using the Vanco platform.
