It's been a tradition for Catholics to light a candle as they pray, and now the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament is taking this tradition into the digital age by inviting people to do so virtually.

Candles are a reminder of the Light of Jesus Christ, the Cathedral announced online. The tiny fire that burns from it symbolized the Holy Spirit. Now people who wish to have their special intentions prayed for can fill out the form on the Cathedral's Candle Lighting page. There, you can fill in your prayer request along with the type of candle you'd like lit and how many. The cost for an individual candle ranges from $5 to $10 for a large, 6-7 day candle. Each request will be prayed for at the weekly Monday staff prayer meeting and kept confidential.

No donation is required for those asking for prayers, so if you can't make a candle donation, you can submit a prayer request. If you have any questions, you can call Anna Romano at 313-883-2862.
