The Rev. J.J. Mech will soon be marking a quarter of a century in the priesthood and his Detroit congregation planned to surprise him with a special present.

The Rev. Mech of the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit will be recognized with the gift, signs, and prayer cards at the 11 a.m. Mass on June 28, the church announced on its Facebook page. The anniversary of his ordination fell on June 24.

Parishioners at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament would like to gift him with a silver iPad in honor of his silver anniversary. Since he has served at several parishes throughout his more than two decades as a priest, his congregation has set up a giving link for anyone who'd like to donate.

If you'd like to mail a card for his anniversary, send it to: Fr. J.J. Mech, 9844 Woodward Avenue, Detroit MI 48202.
